I read that Entrecard has teamed up with Sezwho in an attempt to get more comments on blog posts throughout the Entrecard community. I suppose some of you out there think this is a great idea and others of you don’t. Me personally, my initial thought was that it’s a lame idea … but after thinking about it for a while, I think it’s a really lame idea. All it really amounts to is a bunch of people writing comments that they have no desire to write in the first place, but do so just to get credits.
Quite honestly I don’t want people like that commenting here because I think it just cheapens things. At the moment when someone leaves a comment on this site I know they did because they enjoyed something I posted … and that’s what I want, a genuine comment from a genuine commenter. But with this Sezwho thing, how am I supposed tell the difference between the people commenting because they want to and the ones doing so cause they’re getting paid?
As it stands, I get people commenting on here because they want to … whether it’s because of something I said, or because they thought one of the pictures was funny as hell and they just had to say something … or because a video clip was simply irresistible. And I’m quite happy to keep it that way thank you very much.
So if you’ve got something to say … say it in the comment section, but keep in mind you’re not getting paid.
Now with that aside, on with the funny business, cause too much seriousness makes Steven go crazy.
Here’s a funny commercial for Star Wars and Spike TV showing what happens when you play golf with Darth Vader. Darth would totally kick Tiger Woods’ ass.

Haha! That video is pretty funny, I’m surprised I haven’t seen it somewhere else yet. As for the commenting thing, to each his own.
I see it as something else entirely — it is a way for those who don’t want to randomly click through blogs to gain credits. If I find a certain amount of blogs interesting I can just comment on them and just use Entrecard as a way to find new blogs (the way it should be IMO). So I’m not losing anything by commenting.
As to getting more comments, I have yet to see that (although it has only been about 12 hours). If I get more comments, great… if I don’t… so what?

I’m still on the fence about the whole SexWho thing–I see your point and Gary’s. I think Ill take a wait and see attitude–wait until enough EntreCard users start to use it and see whether it inspires the masses to leave really perfunctory comments to get credit, or whether it will end up being that extra push that gets regular readers to chime in.
My suspicion is that it will be the former rather than the later. Oh..and the vid…it did make me laugh out lout. Should have…but didn’t see the use of the force coming on that one. Hasta pasta.

I will have to agree, having people post comments, with nothing really good to say, is not a good idea. I dont think they will though, and you always do have the option to delete the comment. Even with the new feature, I personally dont have any intentions, of leaving comments that I have no interest or knowledge of.

The sort of people who would need credits in order to comment @ *my site* are not the sort of people I want commenting at my site.
Since joining EC I see lame comments enough; I really can’t take anymore.

I pretty much agree, I don’t think I would want to give out MORE credits to people who just come by and comment. It’s bad enough that my bounce rate is really high.
The video was great, I wonder what the guy was thinking when he grabed the golf club and was going to try and take on Darth Vader, lmao.. !!!

Yep I’m on the fence too but you make some good points… I’m not sure I want people to rate my comments either or my posts…
If you don’t like my blog - buggeroffski! And if you do - great…
That’s my attitude at the moment until someone convinces me otherwise.

I’m speachless, I have to remind myself not to eat something when i’m visiting your site because someday i will choke with food. Serious laughing :)) I’ll send the link to some friends, and i think they will apreciate it too. Keep up the good work.
P.S. I don’t get credit for this
I’ve just enjoyed the video. And yes it’s kind of lame for entrecard…but I think they said “What the hell, let’s maximize the profit!”

Keep the laughs coming Steven…that is the reason why I come to the site every day, not to worry about some lame structure to benefit whiny people who have nothing to offer.
This partnership is bogus, especially when it wasn’t tested/released for all platforms from the start. It is just another way to try and set up cliques to spam comment each other and inflate credit totals.

Steven…I agree with you…I comment because I have something to say…I truly appreciate all the comments I receive and would like to keep them honest and heartfelt!!!
Cheers

When I heard about WhoSez, I had the same thoughts. However, I decided to give it a try and see what happens because I can always remove it. Also, it is not going to change how I leave comments or when.
With that said…
I love Star Wars and really enjoyed this video…again like the dance off one I want to use it on my blog. Mine is an intensely serious blog, but Saturday’s I always post something funny or silly. Your blog is giving my lots of ideas.
Thanks for doing the reseach for me!

I was wondering why I had gotten more comments today that I usually get.
It kind of makes me feel “comment pressure”. Like I can’t just say “LMFAO!” anymore, because that’s not a “quality” comment.
Glad to know there’s no pressure HERE!
I didn’t watch the video yet.
I have to go to the bathroom right now…

I will give SezWho a try. I understand your point but I am just curious whether and how it will work.
I agree with Gary R. Hess (first comment here): I prefer getting Entrecard credits for commenting on blogs that I want to concentrate on rather than for clicking on blogs that are not interesting to me.
BTW I have linked to this post.

I agree with what you said about SezWho and Entrecard. Only problem is that I was using SezWho before this whole thing began, so now people will think I’m begging for comments. That’s a drag. I don’t want anyone commenting unless they really want to.

No SezWho for me right now. I want more comments, but not just flybys for credits. Darth totally rocks golf, but we knew he would, somehow.

I tend to try out the new stuff just to see how it works and if I don’t like it I just remove it. I do enjoy a good giggle at your blog though. That video was hilarious! I need to share that one with my hubby.

How is it you missed my post on sezwho? It’s got 33 unpaid quality comments and climbing!
Fucking-A, in total agreement with you. Love the Darth Vader Video…To me that perfectly represents what Golf is all about. I think I’d watch it on television if all golfers could use the force and defend themselves with lightsabres. I think Golf would lose its snooze factor then.
Cheers!
P.S. If you would like to give me 3 EntreCard Credits for this comment, I’ll be happy to accept the transfer.

I just signed up with SezWho just to give it a try. Not sure yet if I like it but I’ll try anything to get more comments because if they comment they have to stay on my site longer. One thing I noticed and that is how I arrived at your blog is when you search for blogs on Entrecard that are SezWho enabled your blog shows up. About the Darth Vader video I think it is ok, not rolling on the floor funny but ok. That is my honest opinion.
